Point of sale · Kenya
Froy POS remembers every shilling you're owed — sales, stock, M-Pesa and deni in one place. No till to buy. No hardware.
Free tier, no card, no hardware. Installs in your browser.
Froy POS is a point-of-sale app for Kenyan small retail — dukas, kiosks, mini-marts and boutiques. It runs as a progressive web app on an ordinary Android phone, tracks stock and customer credit, reconciles M-Pesa against cash, and produces VAT-ready reports. It costs a fraction of a conventional till because there is no till.
The setup nobody budgets for
In Kenya, a conventional POS setup is sold as hardware first and software second. A starter bundle of terminal, thermal printer and software typically runs KES 45,000 to KES 90,000, and that is before the monthly subscription. Froy POS starts at nothing, because your phone is already the terminal.
Conventional POS
KES 45,000–90,000
Terminal, 80mm thermal printer and software licence, as a starter bundle. Plus KES 0–5,000+ per month for the software, and a day spent on setup before the first sale.
Froy POS
KES 0 to start
Installs from the browser on the phone in your pocket. No terminal, no printer required. Paid plans from KES 1,500 per month per shop, and the free tier costs nothing at all.
Hardware ranges are the typical 2026 Kenyan market prices published by local POS suppliers. Software pricing band from Froy's own market research. Figures are indicative, not quotes.
The part nobody else builds
Western POS systems assume every sale is a card sale. In a Kenyan duka, a large share of the neighbourhood trades on credit — and no till keeps that account. Froy POS treats customer credit as a first-class feature, not a note in the margin.
01
Sell on credit to a regular, and the amount is recorded against their name — not in a book only you can read. Partial repayments attach to the original debt, so the history never disappears.
02
Current, 7 days, 30 days, 60 days and beyond. The list is sorted by how long the money has been out, so the oldest debt is the first thing you see in the morning — not the thing you discover three months later.
03
Froy sends the reminder by SMS at roughly KES 0.05 per message — about one tenth the price of a WhatsApp message at KES 0.52. Chasing 40 customers costs about two shillings, so you actually chase them instead of letting it slide.
04
At the end of the day you know three things without guessing: what you sold, what is on the shelf, and what you are owed. That is the whole point of a ledger.
Payments
Froy POS initiates M-Pesa STK push to the customer's phone, records cash, and handles split payments where part of a sale is M-Pesa and part is cash. Every payment lands in the same ledger, so reconciling the day compares recorded sales against real totals instead of against memory.
The customer approves on their own phone. No wrong numbers, no reconciliation by screenshot.
KES 700 by M-Pesa and KES 300 in cash is one sale, not two. The till still balances.
Each staff member closes their own shift. Shortfalls show up the same day, not at month end.
Channels
The same catalogue powers your counter, your Jumia listings and a shareable online storefront your customers can order from on WhatsApp. Stock is deducted once, wherever the sale happens.
Barcode or manual entry, offline-capable, with a receipt designed to your own shop's layout.
Push stock and price to your Jumia vendor account. Change it once, and it is correct in both places.
A storefront link you can send to one customer or drop in a WhatsApp status. Orders land in the same queue.
Reliability
Froy POS is offline-first. Sales, stock changes and customer balances are written to the device first, then synchronised when the connection returns. A power cut mid-queue does not lose the transaction, and a dead router does not send you back to the exercise book.
Compliance
Froy produces the per-sale data eTIMS expects and a VAT summary you can hand to your accountant. It is eTIMS-ready rather than a certified eTIMS integrator, and we say so plainly — confirm your current filing route with your accountant. Full CSV export is always available.
In use today
Froy POS is live in Kenyan shops, running real tills, real stock and real customer credit. Our clients prefer not to be photographed or named — so instead of stock portraits, here is the product itself, exactly as it runs.

What shop owners tell us
Client remarks — pending. Our clients are happy to be quoted but do not wish to be named or photographed. Their exact words will be published here, attributed by trade and area only (for example, “Duka owner, Kahawa Wendani”). We would rather leave this space empty for now than fill it with a quote nobody actually said.
Debt Book
We will send the install link and a one-page guide to aging customer credit — the part no till does for you.
Free, and one click to leave. Or install it now.
Questions
No. Froy POS is a progressive web app — it installs from your phone's browser and runs on the device you already own. A Bluetooth thermal printer and a barcode scanner are optional, not required. A conventional Kenyan setup typically starts at KES 45,000–90,000 for a terminal, printer and software before you sell anything.
Yes, and it is the core of the product. Each customer has a running balance in the debt book, aged by current, 7, 30 and 60+ days. Reminders go out by SMS for about KES 0.05 per message — roughly one tenth the cost of WhatsApp. Partial repayments attach to the original debt so the history stays intact.
Yes. Froy initiates M-Pesa STK push to the customer's phone, records cash, and supports split payments where part of a sale is M-Pesa and part is cash. Everything lands in one ledger so the end-of-day reconciliation compares recorded sales against real till and M-Pesa totals.
Froy produces VAT-ready reports and tax invoices designed around KRA requirements, including the per-sale data eTIMS expects. It is eTIMS-ready rather than a certified eTIMS integrator, so confirm your current filing route with your accountant. CSV export of all sales data is always available.
Nothing stops. Froy POS is offline-first: sales, stock changes and customer balances are written to the device first and synchronised when the connection returns. A dead router or a power cut does not lose the transaction.
There is a free tier for very small shops, and paid plans from KES 1,500 per month per shop. For context, Kenyan SaaS POS pricing generally sits between KES 2,000 and KES 15,000 per month, with Pesapal's published RACK POS at KES 5,000. Froy prices per shop, not per user, so a second staff member costs nothing extra. See full pricing →
